Hoarding

I am a hoarder (in WoW). I collect a lot of different things. And as you can tell from the picture above, I have like no bag space at all. It's a problem, it really is. Of the bags I carry with me at all times I have two bags full of things constantly. Various vanity items, loot card items, archaeology tablets, teleportation items, and just so much other stuff I find it necessary to carry. The worst part is 95% of it is BoP so I can't even send anything to my bank alt.

I know what you might be thinking. There's an easy fix for this. I could just vendor a lot of the stuff I DON'T need. Like from the outside looking in you might be thinking "Do you really need to collect every single healing priest tier piece?". Do I need to? No. Do I want to? Absolutely. A majority of the pieces I worked my bum off for and I am not vendoring it. I guess you could call them my RP sets.

Is the staff collection necessary? Yes. To me at least. Like the tier sets I worked for these staves and I intend to keep them. Like for example the one I'm most proud of is my Apostle of Argus. I got it when I was raiding Hyjal back in The Burning Crusade with a guild named "Select Few". I was a new recruit when it first dropped so I thought I had no chance of getting it. And needless to say, I was right. It went to the healing class leader who was a druid. I was totally okay with that. Logged off feeling accomplished as that night was the first night we had downed Archimonde, and I was proud of how I displayed my abilities. I showed them that I was a good healer despite having no hard core raiding back ground. As I log in the next day I see I have mail from a GM. The healing class leader decided to ticket it to me. He also mailed me explaining why he gave it to me. It was a reward, an offering per say, for being a "good player" and for helping them out. Memories like that are not worth 18g 60s 39c.

Other notable things in my bank are:
I guess the point of this post is to say how unfriendly Blizzard is to collectors. They have thousands of such awesome items you can get and I like to hold onto my favourites. I'm running out of space though. Anyone have any suggestions? Sure Blizzard adding a tabard page would help, I guess. I think buying more personal bank tabs would be a nice option. Maybe I should just clean house and decide on only one collection. That's not a choice I'd like to do though.

I'm curious as to what you all think though. Do you think having collections in WoW is silly? Or are you a fellow collector? If so tell me what you collect! Let me know I'm not alone!

Now if you excuse me, I'm going to go organize my bags.

  1. I shall throw no stones, because my bags look similar! The tabard of the achiever itself required a few bag slots, and once I earned them I'm loathe to purge them.
4.0 improved my bag space while questing with the elimination of arrows/bullets, but I still carry around more than I need.
Highly recommend ArkInventory addon to group stuff in bags and bank by functions & rules because while I love having it all, I sometimes need help actually finding it!

  3. @Peashooter - That's a good addon suggestion, I'll have to check it out. And I'm glad I'm not alone out there with having full bags haha.

@Beyondhiphop - Hahaha I probably should with some of it! But other stuff can't be attained anymore (like the turban and what not). I'll sell stuff I don't need once I hit the "oh noes I can't DO ANYTHING because of bag space" stage of hoarding. I hope.

  4. Hello my name is Jazz and I am a WoW Hoarder. Just this week I started going through the massive collection of what others might seem to be junk but are my WoW treasures. I have among my collection letters sent for completing various quests, holiday outfits, a wide assortment of weapons that I think look "pretty", tabards (they really need to do something about those), my 1st set of epic gear (I worked hard on that stuff and I'm not crushing it damn it), and the list goes on. I refuse to let go of this stuff and I really don't care that its nothing but pixels each one of these things means something to me. It's the history of my character in items.

  5. I'm pretty good at keeping my bags cleaned out, mostly because I hate not having bag space. My bank, well, that's a different story. Very few of my toons (all 10 of them) have any bank space at all. And I've managed to fill a 4 tab guild bank too. I have this problem of "that'll come in handy, I should keep that". Bagnon is great for finding stuff in over-crowded bags, btw, if you don't want to mess with setting up Ark Inventory.

My main does have stuff like the first purple she ever got, the robe and hat from Scarlet Monastery, and costuming and other holiday stuff. I'd love to see Blizz create a costuming/tabard/rp storage area separate from our banks/bags, kinda like they did for companion pets. That way I could actually wander around with my squid-on-a-stick staff instead of it living in my bank for fear I'd forget and sell it if it was in my bags.

  7. @Jazz - *waves* Hi Jazz. You're not alone here. I'm completely with you! I still have the first GREEN my priest has ever gotten in my bank. I won't get anything until I absolutely have to haha.

@Melfina - Yeah I agreed Blizz could easily implement something like that, or even just more purchasable personal bank tabs. I would gladly spend gold on more space. And who doesn't love Terestian's Stranglestaff, I mean really. Mine has Deathfrost which makes it look bizarrely awesome =3.

@Morituri - Aww thanks, you're too much. And yes, go ahead and steal it! I want to see other people's banks and hear about other people's collections! There's so many objects in this game it's just crazy to think about what is hiding in there.

  8. I was just getting teased about this tonight! A guildie couldn't understand why I have to keep my offspec gear in my bank (which is absolutely full) instead of my bags (which are mostly full). My bank is basically always full, although I did get rid of any tabards I could easily buy again and some holiday items that I had kept and never used.

The bags I imagine will stay full until I stop leveling professions and questing. Well, to be filled immediately by archaeology stuff I guess. I have a problem :(

  10. Hi everyone, my name is Saz and I too am a WoW item hoarder. On occasion I'm able to go through my rather extensive gear collection and sell a *few* things, but I've essentially been out of bag space since sometime early WotLK. Farming becomes very problematic.

I definitely echo Peashooter's recommendation of using ArkInventory. I'd be lost without that addon, no lies!

It's always fun to stumble upon fellow hoarders : D
